Tour Description

This incredible tour will take you back in time as you experience life in the Old Palace, otherwise known as the Palazzo Vecchio or the Palazzo della Signoria. The Palace has always been a symbol of Florentine History and it was resident to one of the most important family names in Renaissance history: the Medici’s. Accompanied by your expert guide you enter by skipping the notoriously long lines with our reservation tickets.

The building you are going to visit was built in the late 12th century to represent the second seat of the Florentine Republic. In the 15th Century, following the political rise of the Medici family, the palace became the residence of the Grand Duke Cosimo I, who became lord, as well as master of the city. During the 18th Century it also became the seat of the Italian Parliament. As well as representing one of the most important tourist attractions of unquantifiable historical and cultural value, it is also the current seat of the Municipality of Florence.

The tour will visit the Museum and the private rooms of the Grand Dukes of the Medici family, entirely renovated by Giorgio Vasari and the rooms of the Government of the Italian Republic. Subsequently, the guide will show you the masterpiece, or the Salone dei 500, frescoed entirely by Giorgio Vasari, as well as the halls and apartments of the Grand Duchess Eleonora of Toledo.

Towards the end of the visit, you will visit other very important rooms, such as the Gigli room, the Geographical Maps room and the last Chancellor of the Republic room. At the end of this wonderful experience, you will have the opportunity to relax on the terrace located in the back, enjoying one of the best views of the city whilst you let the highlights of your experience soak in.
